Eric Hovde has some fans

City of Contempt Endorses Eric Hovde for US Senate. Old Man Thompson Couldn’t score this!!!!!!!

Takeaways from the Wisconsin Reporter Debate

1. Eric Hovde L O V E S it when Old Man Thompson doesn’t take the dais.
2. No Thompson, no press coverage.
3. Jeff Fitzgerald might be an android, can’t confirm at this time.  However, but our people are looking into the possibility.
4. Mark Neumann is definitely an android, just a better programmed one.
5. The theory our people are working on is that Neumann was programmed by an actual person, while Jeff Fitzgerald is a prototype written by a machine.
6. Thompson can’t keep ducking public appearances like this with bullshit excuses or Hovde is going to walk away with the WISGOP endorsement at convention next month.
7. How does ‘Wisconsin Reporter’ get a Capital Press credential? Wait forget it, now I remember.

Outlawing free speech, Gov Walker defies law by making “rules”.

Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin has enacted his plan for effectively killing free speech on the grounds of the state capitol in Madison. In an attempt to avoid the protests that kicked off last February, Walker has rolled out new rules through the Department of Administration led by Mike Huebsch. These new “rules” defy the rights of Wisconsin’s citizens. Rights that are protected by law. Law trumps rules, in court. Walker is calling for permits to be requested 72 hours in advance for any group of four or more people. Permits are required to hold activities or put up displays in state buildings. Permits for 100 people or more to gather outside state buildings are still required. Groups of four or more holding demonstrations will have to pay for extra police and put a downpayment on their services when submitting requests for permits. Most notably a $50/per hour rate for a capitol police officer. And, any damage or cleanup after a protest could be charged to the demonstrators. Today, December 19th the Solidarity Singers held their weekday sing-a-long joined by hundreds of additional singer/demonstrators. Governor Walker’s continued attempts to silence the citizens of Wisconsin seems to only be encouraging more acts practicing free speech. It’s become counter-intuitive in it’s implementation and won’t stand up in the court of law. Are these the death throes of an administration that’s doomed. Reactionary tactics by the Wisconsin GOP are only hurting their cause. Their cause of reverting the ideological progress we as humans (U.S. citizens) over the past 100 years.

THE EARLY LINE: DEM GUBERNATORIAL 2012

There ain’t no Gavin Newsom in this field, kids. The DPW scene doesn’t have a dynamic political shooting star that can check off all the boxes with the progressives and the Money Crowd. Which is a big reason why we ended up with Scoot in the first place. If this thing is really up for grabs(which I’m NOT sure of) I have total confidence that the Party will produce the least inspired of whatever viable options are at hand:

Dave Obey 3-1

Russ 7-2

Herb Kohl 5-1

Tom Barrett 10-1

Kathleen Falk 10-1

Jon Erpenbach 20-1

Peter Barca 50-1

Barbara Lawton 100-1

Jim Doyle 200-1

Mahlon Mitchell 300-1

Mark Attanasio 500-1

Lena Taylor 500-1

Brett Hulsey 1000-1

Segway Jeremy Ryan 5000-1

The Field: Kelda Helen Roys, Cory Mason, Dale Schultz, Citizen Dave, Paul Soglin, Chief Tubbs, Spencer Coggs, Mark Ruffalo, Heather Graham, Monty Ball, BJ Raji

I still don’t see how Russ can say no if the recall crowd pulls an Ohio and absolutely blows out the minimum number of signatures needed. Obey is nearly 70 and Kohl is over it. Are these really the guys we want to see in a cage match with Evil Scoot? I think not.

TENANTS’ RIGHTS AND LOCAL CONTROL RALLY June 29th 2011

The Legislative Reference Bureau analysis of Wisconsin SB107 is as follows:

This bill prohibits a city, village, town, or county from enacting an ordinance
that does any of the following with respect to a residential landlord: 1) prohibits or
limits the landlord from obtaining or using various types of information about a
tenant or prospective tenant, such as household income, occupation, court records,
rental history, and credit information; 2) limits how far back in time a prospective
tenant’s credit information, conviction record, or previous housing may be considered
by the landlord; or 3) prohibits the landlord from showing a rental property to a
prospective tenant, or from entering into a rental agreement for a rental property
with a prospective tenant, while the current tenant is living there.

The Committee on Insurance and Housing passed this through committee discussion and debate in less than five minutes today. SB107 is a direct assault on local municipality control.  The right-wing controlled committee is hell bent on taking away the freedom and power of local governments.  Wait, doesn’t the GOP stress the problems of BIG government?  This puts the power in large private housing throughout the state.  Madison has a poverty population of over 17%, over half of all Madison residents are renters.  Some of the new provisions in the bill require renters to make over three times the amount of rent, in order to secure a lease.

A $600 a month apartment will now require you to make over $1,800 a month.  That means the average Joe better make over $11.25 an hour AFTER taxes! That’s well over $15 an hour. Simple infractions such as disorderly conduct can leave you on the outside looking in as well. Landlords will now have the power to reject lease applications for any arrest of conviction they don’t like.  Currently residents are given 24 hours notice before their apartment is shown, under the new provisions in SB107 landlords now only need a 12 hour warning.  Encroaching on not only civil liberties but privacy as well. Don’t get too comfy in your new apartment, landlords now have the right to start showing your apartment to new renters the first week that you move into your new place.

Foreign students now have less rights with their landlords.  If you cannot produce a social security number your rental application can be denied.

The new rules laid out in SB107 can require renters to provide first, last and a security deposit before getting a set of keys.  How can that same $600 apartment renter making as little as they do possible come up with $1,800 dollars while they are in their current lease.  The GOP wrecking ball is now going after those who OBVIOUSLY can least afford it.  These are renters, they are the working class.  The GOP aided the housing market collapse and now they have their eyes on putting those folks on the streets next.

Dave Blaska’s dud sing-a-long

make your gunny proud son

After two weeks of frenzied Facebook pimping, permit applications and Vicki McKenna giving daily reminders between drags on a Newport, 35 “singers” showed up in the capital rotunda today. If you count the lady flying the Arizona state flag in a blatant display of racism and the local marine reservist who didn’t really sing so much as surf Facebook from his phone.

This event was planned for two weeks and thirty-five people showed up to sing such classics as “Meet the Flintstones” and “Gilligan’s Island”. The irony of a bunch of paleo-cons singing songs about people who live in the stone-age was in now way lost on me.

Two TV news stations showed up today which is a testament to Blaska’s ability to pimp himself and nothing else. Twenty to fifty people show up at noon every day on the Capitol square at State Street. to sings songs of solidarity and where is the “liberal media”? Why is the “liberal media” showing up for thirty-five paleo-con singing for like twenty minutes and ignoring the Solidarity singers that are outside EVERY day?

In a couple of hours Vicki McKenna is going to be on the radio with Dave Blaska falsifying testimony about how great the showing was today. The reality was pathetic while symbolic. Blaska will be aided and abetted by Brian Schimming who will claim to have been there and will in fact have not. Strap in kids, it’s gonna be another fact-free afternoon.

make your gunny proud son

Look at all the paleo-cons!

What kind of person would fly the Arizona flag in the Wisconsin State House?

The sing-a-long outside

Word. Props the the Fab 14.

Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. R-WI5 is going to retire

Looking at the current leaked map for republican plans for redistricting only one thing comes to mind: Sensenbrenner is done. If F. James were to run and win again this would be the third congressional district and third round of redistricting he would have survived. The 5th is about to share a boarder with the 2nd and if Tammy Baldwin runs for senate Sensenbrenner is gonna have a way tougher time running against a moderate Dem in eastern Dane county, and to boot there are large amount of voters who have NEVER voted for Sensenbrenner, because they have never had the choice! Meanwhile Petri’s district stays largely intact with little significant gerrymandering, hmmmm………

This just goes to show how far to the crazy the Wisconsin republican part has lurched, that even a guy like F. James Sensenbrenner cant even walk the walk of a WISGOP candidate. Hey Vicki McKenna, I think it is YOUR party that has been hijacked.

The guy they will get to replace him will be air-horn assult victim and hero to the right in Wisconsin, tate sen. Glen Grothman.

Sensenbrenner is done son!

Report from Netroots Nation

Netroots nation is open to a rocking start. The CityofContempt has sent some agents to Minneapolis to take a temperature check of Wisconsin’s fight, to see how much people nationwide care about our struggles at home in Fitzwalkerstan.

Big Shock: NeoCon Groups Pay Millions to Buy Your Thoughts

So suddenly it makes a lot more sense that the Old Puffbag Limbaugh always quotes Heritage Foundation “reports”. Just imagine what former Sean Duffy Staffer Matt Seaholm and Americans For Prosperity pay Newport-chugging Vicki McKenna and Vice-Chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party Brian Schimming to spew their shrill vitriol for 3 hours a day all over the airwaves of Madison? I wonder what they pay Scott Walker to….that is off topic…….

From Politico:

“In search of donations and influence, the three prominent conservative groups are paying hefty sponsorship fees to the popular talk show hosts. Those fees buy them a variety of promotional tie-ins, as well as regular on-air plugs – praising or sometimes defending the groups, while urging listeners to donate – often woven seamlessly into programming in ways that do not seem like paid advertising.

“The point that people don’t realize,” said Michael Harrison, founder and publisher of the talk media trade publication TALKERS Magazine, “is that (big time political talk show hosts) are radio personalities – they are in the same business that people like Casey Kasem are in – and what they do is no different than people who broadcast from used car lots or restaurants or who endorse the local roofer or gardener.”

The Heritage Foundation pays about $2 million to sponsor Limbaugh’s show and about $1.3 million to do the same with Hannity’s – and considers it money well spent.”
